The Kijimuna Festival is a yearly children's theatrical festival in Okinawa, Japan. It is regarded as one of the most prestigious and popular theatre festivals for children and young audiences in the Asian region. It is named after the Kijimuna, a mythical creature who inhabits the trees and swamps of Okinawa. It is sponsored by the City of Okinawa and features content from around the world. In 2011 on the festival there were theaters from Japan, Europe, Mexico, Africa and Australia — 9 days, 32 000 spectators, 170 performances on 8 stages. The goals of the Kijimuna Festival are young audience education and making contribution into World Peace.

On July 26th, the International Association of Theater for Children and Young People began its summer festival in Seoul. This was the 19th annual ASSITEJ summer festival. Kim Byeong-ho, Chairman of Board ASSITEJ Korea said: "The theater festival gathers the nation's best performances in one place so that children can more easily access the works during the summer vacation." This festival offers everything from regular plays and performances to watch to activities that invite children to participate in. This year's ASSITEJ festival includes the Asian Children's Theater Festival. The Asian Children's Theater Festival is held by the 4 member cities of the Asian Alliance of Theater for Young Audiences. The 4 cities take turns hosting the festival. This year, the festival came to Seoul, which holds the presidency. The Asian Children's Theater Festival, which tours through member cities, is a festival of cultural experiences that are created specially for children.

2011 Kaohsiung Children's Art Education Festival integrated multiple and abundant educational results from more regions consequent to the merger with Kaohsiung County. The festival provides an opportunity for schools, teachers, and students who devote to art education, as well as art groups and parents in the community to interact and communicate with each other. Project leaders from the leading art festivals in Japan and Hong Kong participated in the festival, while the outstanding performance groups from Japan, France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Poland and Belgium were adding more diversity and richness to the festival.
